A short article speculating why we don’t get WRC in the US. Per usual, we can’t have nice things because of our legal system

Just like how pro boxers don’t go suing each other after every match for assault, this issue can be solved through contract law. Just make EVERYONE sign a waiver and restrict the observation areas. Many, many racers sign waivers assuming the risk of racing, I don’t understand how or why they can’t do so in WRC.

Don’t tell me it’s because of the danger when we drag race funny cars fueled by methanol that can literally explode at any second on the drag strip.

At least he brings up the actual reason WRC won’t come to the USA: Television and the lack of sponsors. There is no money to be made. Why do it? For the fans? No such luck.

Yes but like he says, it doesn’t really matter where it’s held if tv is the primary source of income

Because here in the USA, activist judges and idiotic civil juries completely ignore signed waivers all the time, and still award huge compensatory damages to injured parties who, by all common sense AND legal documentation, have waived their rights to said compensation by knowingly engaging in risky behavior such as standing ten feet away from a rally track with no barriers.

Do you have any examples? I’m not trying to be antagonistic, I just figure that the situations you described would be anomalous and would be appealed so that the right decision is reached. I do know that trial courts are a kinda like the wild west.
